With such an strong resistance towards black womanhood, there is a created superimposed superficial reality that distorts our image and creates room for misinterpretation. We struggle to be considered for our true value instead of the narrative seeking to justify our struggle.
I pray for the mental health and prosperity of each one who reads these words. Love your sisters and brothers, stay kind, until next time.
When did they teach us that we didn’t need sophistication to win the day? Did we actually believe them?
Icons are not created, they are born, because it takes authenticity to break through the monotony. The more I scroll on social media outlet’s looking for inspiration to consolidate, I notice the images woman of color have become abrasive, and not a true representation as the way I see myself as a copper-colored woman with a long history, most of it hidden. As we are only looking at the tip of the iceberg. I hope to do lots of unpacking, but for now, let’s just let that marinate.
Men with character, perseverance and determination paved the way, no matter what we think, in this current generation.
So many untold stories locked in the crate, because it provides an image most are searching for, but stuck with the same old tales, most historically untrue.
The attack on our fathers and our sons was an attack on our foundation. We need them to see this and embrace their importance daily.
Expression of love, has been under attack, normalizing trauma responses, and not discussing healing from ailments that came with having to fit into boxes that were not meant for any God-fearing human. I pray for the unification of the family, and to heal from generational trauma inflicted upon us by a Narcissistic society.
The strength and resiliency, that in this modern era, is being replaced by dolls, with accessories, marketing and celebrity, with no real culture or purpose, but to be appealing. Tone deaf at best
They say if you educate a man, you teach a person, but if you educate a girl, you teach a generation. Must be why girls, and ladies have been systematically oppressed all over the world, but I feel the winds of change.
Stay in love, not just for the moment, but for generations to come.
Thank you for joining me, until next time.

Mood board to take you through the Month of March….
Thank you so much for joining me, on this Mood Style March Edition. I hope you stay prayerful and inspired
Until next time!
As we approach Spring in the upcoming months, the style inspiration relaxes and infuses itself with a cultural aesthetic. An ode to the life we hope to live and the people we pray to be. The times are heavy, and we are all trying to understand this changing world, the pandemic, the massive attacks, the violence that seems to be prevalent and everywhere, as well as the standard of beauty that exploits, instead of celebrating the diversity in what it is to be a sensitive, creative and feminine woman. This season, I wanted to locate and find looks, and mood inspiration that can assist in adding to your day, week, month and year. Let’s get started!
As the year begins and we stretch into March, there is so much going on as mentioned above, for some new beginnings are on the horizon, in various forms, returning to office, some are starting new business ventures and investments, some are moving to a new city, or just staring over after escaping trauma, to those near and far this is for you.
To get up and show up for yourself is the highest form of love, we can’t even say that we love others if we are not practicing daily, the revolutionary act of loving ourselves. Some may not even realize that the unending stresses, and pangs of depression can also be a sign of discontentment. I want to say, that it is our responsibility to put our ourselves in the best situations that work for and in hance us personally, if we do not, don’t blame others, it is not their job.
Find yourself in Style
Style is the best way to show and express ourselves, and the environments that we chose to go. There is an art to dress, but there is a mastery in style, when you own the look and embrace the beauty that is on the inside, outside for the world to see. even though it may not seem like it., this is not the time to be cowering in corners trying to be invisible individual, this is a time to sort-out who you are and separate it from your trauma responses, and then show back up as you, yourself, better than you have ever been.
Love in the time of war is Revolutionary
Love and embrace love, there is nothing more valuable than love in all the world. It is even rarer than riches
The Road Less Traveled
In a world that made our standard of beauty the opposite for the sake of its own comfort, later for that. We are now in a world of information where we are able to unearth our rich history and heritage around the world and grow more and more inspired every day. We do not have to accept the limitations that make others comfortable, it is time to call out the elephant in the room, which is the extreme insecurity it must have taken to try to oppress us in the first place. Rage against the madness by loving yourself and embracing the truth, and it will set you free.
And to think of how many ladies, and baby girls do not know just how wonderfully made they are
Touches that add sparkle to your day!
Foodie Friendly ..
Thank you so much for joining me, until next time!
If history proves anything, it is what is not learned is doomed to be repeated.
Black, since the word has been used as self-Identity in the 1960’s has become branding for all intents and purposes. There is black pride, and power and magic being touted everywhere. What has not gone viral is justice, peace, dignity or character. What has not been on display is images we can be proud of. Only figure heads flossing their riches and trying to look concerned at the same time. It would almost be comical but we as a whole world have actually entered the terror dome.
All over the world for quite some time people of color have been maliciously murdered and targeted.
With the most forgiving heart we believe the generational trauma is by chance, it’s not by chance, but can we see it yet? In the words of New York Nadia…
The connection I have with my city is not and will never be from the perspective of an outsider. I have lived outside of Minnesota for a stint, but my heart longed for years to return home.
When I was 9, in 1990, my life was Minneapolis, as a South sider my grandmother owned a house across the street from the old Central. My life was amazing, I played in parks, hung out mostly with my cousins, because my family is huge. My mother would bring to parks either Central or Powderhorn we would bring music, and feed anyone who wanted to join in our praise fest, always on the Sabbath.
My family was a part of the community, and all was truly well. soon that would all change, all of it.
Abdul Ferguson was shot at a house party; this was a big deal because we were of community of black families that grew up together for generations. The breaking started, then what I would call gang war had taken over as if overnight. The officials shuffled to disorient the community, took money out of the school and gave it to the suburbs, the city kids were bussed out to. Families left the city due to increase crime
We moved to Cloquet when my mother friend had crosses burnt on her front yard. My Mom went and confronted racism, she went to their town hall asked where the white Supremacist where at?
She told them they loved her, but their love was perverted.
She told this one fact, and Cloquet rolled out the red carpet, and they know well as does Duluth the influences of white supremacy.
I saw what no one ever told me in Black history class, the power of Faith in God, the might that comes from the blood of Jesus, is extremely underrated in the world of agendas.
Flash Foward to Now, let’s take a look at the recent headlines.
Times have not improved, and the city is struggling to be itself, as a shell of what it used to be. The Mayor in both Minneapolis and St. Paul also instilled vaccination mandates for bars and restaurants for 2 weeks which is what the two cities are well known for, hospitality and entertainment. This hit the core of the economies for both, why was this smart?
‘The community was and is a threat and has been treated as such for every long time. Taxpayers, citizens, community members, contributors, business owners, leaders, but they are called black, so people know how to treat them, as a color? I her the 1960’s calling..
The trauma is and has always been real, the gaslighting has been the narrative.
The death processions, and long lines, the detriment, and psychosis that follows. The mistreatment and narcissism that has been commonplace, and wellness has never mattered, but the health experts say?
Rest Peacefully to the victims of hatred both near and far…
I wished it stopped there, but what is allowed for one, is most likely sooner or later applied to all…
Since ancient times the world has sat back and agreed silently with the subjugation of the peoples from around the world, only to find, that they too were in a cage.
The question is now, how will you be remembered in this day in time?
Stay prayerful at peace and in purpose.
Until next time.
Is anyone else thinking that we are extras in a blockbuster movie, under dressed, over stressed, and doing our best to say sane and in character?..Action! was called a long time ago, and there does not seem to be a break in sight?
I’m praying for each and everyone, that you all stay prayerful, diligent, healthy, and both mentally and spiritually well.
There is in fact a synchronized pattern, and I find this fascinating. Time seems to be moving faster, either that or takes more time to do things. Either way, as a friend tells me..”Don’t think too hard”.
There is always beauty in the moment if we own it. What we focus on becomes our mood, our day, our actions, or lack there of.
This seems wrong on so many levels. Makes one wonder, has anything changed, other than the fashion?
Few know this, but there was a slight contention during the Harlem Renaissance between the men and woman artist and writers at the time. Not that there had to be, but it was about the focus of the movement that was being created. The men became great orators, and writers talking about social issues, while the woman focused on more community based, or domestic issues inside the family.
Perspective is everything and often where you look. Within generations the family unit was under attack, and has since been weakened, and well Harlem never recovered from the internal divide. We can learn a lot from this.
The world knows better than we do. We still can’t see what has been there all along.
Talk about PTSD. We are some resilient people.
The narrative has always been the same.
Talk about inspiration. She is an unearthed diamond. A pearl in the mouth of a clam. Open up!
They walk side by side eternally now.
An ode to elegance!
Books are worlds that transform you, challenge you, and dares you to complete. They have more respect for your person, than a smart phone does.
Rose is still a rose. Aretha Franklin and Lauryn Hill…
“Baby girl, you’re still a flower…”
Books, check them out!
Thank you all ever so much for joining me yet again, until next time. May God and the love and blood of Jesus bless and keep you!
