June Moods 2025 Pre-Summer Sentiments🏞️🪷🌺🌞

Well June what can I say, you sure know how to make an entrance. Entering June feeling like we waited too long for the weather to break, when the sun comes with some heat, it’s like I’ll take it, let’s go outside.

The first 5 months of the year was more on the side of let’s budget, and stay in, enjoy the apartment I paid for, and Netflix.

Now the mood has changed. Staying in still helps with the discipline of working on my novel and 2 weekends a month can be dedicated to staying close to home, but the summer is a perfect time to spend time with friends and family. So we find excuses to get out and get dressed.

In terms of style, I realized that 2025 is requiring a bit more flavor.

As I writing this I am downtown at the Barrio. There is a whole Prince block party happening and has happened since we (Minneapolis) found out about his passing. Every year on his birthday he is the star of the show. Hero comes to mind, when it comes to all the people he silently helped when he was alive. There is simply not enough thank you’s in the world

Anywho!

This has totally influenced the mood for June.

June is giving me island or resort vibes. Spending long hours outside, visiting family and friends. Long conversations over great food. Places with wonderful ambiance, and multiple planned or unplanned trips to the lake. More open mics, also weekends inside working on art and writings.

This year I want to buy and collect less stuff. More experience, ways to learn, perhaps a spinning class or a hand building clay class.

June is about setting that personal soundtrack, looking for volunteer opportunities to give back. Dancing in the rain of summer heat, art festivals and theatre in the park.

So with a full sense of June, being both a slow and eventful month, I encourage each and everyone to venture out and do something local. Turn exercise into an adventure to a new place.

Hair care

I can’t speak for anyone else, but when summer comes even my hair changes moods. One where I could keep the humidity from affecting my strands we walk into a time where science will just let live, and any hint of moisture is going to encourage my curls. Did I mention that I don’t have to like the shape my hair takes during the inevitable shrink, because nobody asked me.

The emotional rollercoaster of being sabotaged by your own hair is wild, but I have some curl inspired style to counter the crazy.

Style is influenced by bright bold florals, lines and polka dots. Colored trousers, graphic T”s and statement heels or sneakers whatever your pleasure.

Suit jackets worn with body suit tops and graphic T’s for an evening to weekend look.

Get dressed, take something you like to wear and accessories or simplify it, but go outside.

The expression food, folks and fun can not be more emphasized in June. Mind you, I am fully aware of the world out there, but since we don’t live in fear we will continue to live in faith…Moving on..

Food is an exciting topic. My favorites are dishes that encourage us to eat the rainbow. Eating out nutrients seems much safer than the things found in supplements. The grocery bill can get heavy so opting for oats and fruit for breakfast, a sandwich and soup for lunch and a heavier dinner with a solid mix of proteins and fresh greens is a great energy booster to help one stay energized in the month of June.

The budget!

It’s such a serious topic. Going out 3 times in a week can wreck pockets after the bills are handled. If you are single on one income like myself you have to wear several hats at one time to keep things balanced.

First Pray then Put in the Work!

Travel makes us think outside of the box

For exercise I walk two bags of my next curated wardrobe to the laundry mat. It’s about a block and a half, but you can feel it on your shoulder blades. Then when done at the laundry I walk it back and sometimes put up the clothes.

Prayer works!

Honestly and seriously without prayer I don’t know if I would have the emotional or physical ability to be productive everyday. To go to work, come home, take care of my responsibilities, practice dance, write, have conversations that often inspire the moods, organize after work cocktails with my co-workers, or go out to events or open mics. I don’t know how I could keep my joy, and show up. God is in every part of it.

The together of it, the work of it, the consistency of it, and the determination of it all. Prayer and meditation, self actualization and repentance is cleansing for the soul in such a murky world. Jesus Christ saves the day for me by the second and I would have it no other way. 1 billion out of 10, I would recommend.

Sending my deepest condolences to Ananda’s family they gave us a very bright star. I remember when I was in junior high watching Channel 1, from there to BET’s teen Summit, then as a V Jay of MTV. From MTV there was Entertainment news. She became a fixture as a natural beauty and a brilliant reporter. I am very sorry for passing, and with that I am more determined than ever to keep writing and keep moving forward in spite of the challenges. Ananda will always be an inspiration to me.

We have arrived to the end of the 2025 June Moods. I hope you were inspired and stayed inspired to live your best life as a blessed life.

Until next time! Thank you for joining me.
