Reeves honored, memorialized during Celebration of Life

I decided to volunteer at the 2nd Annual Mel Reeves Remembrance Event Hosted by Vegan by Nature Catering Company in a former Cafe Space that was also black owned.

The experience for me was mixed, as I did show up early and it was just the owner of the Vegan By Nature business, a 16 year old, and myself who worked to get the place put together. Fall inspires community for me, so while never personally meeting Mel, it was an occaision to show up. Needless to say the event went off without a hitch, the speakers and poets showed love to their memory of Mel, and 8 hours later I was finally able to enjoy a meal and sit down with the rest of the attendees.

It was a long day, I showed up, honored my commitment to help, and enjoyed seeing the event come together before my eyes. For more on Mel, click the link above.
