July Journal 2023

July is here and the dog days of summer are upon us. Already the heat index in southern states are increasing. Injury, death and heat exhaustion is on the rise. Be safe out there.

The summer is midway through and the 4th of July, and the Aquatennial are on the horizon.

There is a debate as whether or not black or melanated folks should celebrate the American holiday. It’s an American holiday to folks that identify as American. That’s my tidbit. Americans celebrated Juneteenth, and one did not have to black to do so.

I notice, when I post pictures and about the weather or things that are not too deep, my likes go up. Anything real about child sex trafficking, scams, and corruption, no likes. I am not sure who is shaping understanding, but social media, is more like social mind control. It’s uncomfortable, unreal, and imagined, not informative information.

The politics and confusion has divided this nation so much. I don’t think we are having real conversations about anything. We own nothing in terms of our opinions, unless we get a tons of likes.

Per our constitution we are supposed to be informed masses, instead we know more about irrelavent details, then the details that make the most difference. Will this change?

Who knows.

This first post is a current events, let’s talk.

In this era, prentending not to see won’t work. God is still in control, we have to control our thoughts, lusts, and wants, as they stear us away from ourselves, and our true purpose.

I have learned, it’s lonely to tell the truth, ask questions, investigate, and use one’s platform to empower. It’s not popular to look in the mirror, and asking ourselves how can we make a difference?

As we walk through the rest of this year, and life, let us be brave in our support of the truth.

At the Aquatennial and at least in the warehouse district it leaves a lot to be desired. Their maybe bands going on until 3 am but at 8 pm it is a ghost town, those that came for the festivities came into the Loon, it’s my first time here so I had the walleye tacos and the grape ape. Changing it up I am going to have a french martini, the night may be young yet, I found out about a speak easy that may interesting to check out.

Started off the festivities at The Loon in Wharehouse District/ Downtown Minneapolis. There was a guy at the bar who said he was from Los Angelos. He was nice, but also he wouldn’t stop talking to me, even after Mariah arrived.

When we were leaving he hugged me and kissed me on my forehead without permission. I am not a touch me person, I just quickly left not trying to put a damper on the evening. How rude indeed, no one should be touched, hugged or kissed without being welcomed.

We heard fire works outside and decided to hunt them down. We found them and the night ended beautifullly at Kieran’s Irish Pub.

The next thing was of course Brunch with Mom, which I try to maintain every other Sabbath day. We enjoyed food from Cajun Boiling Minneapolis, because I did not have time to cook.

The next place after brunch was Volstead’s Emporium, a super secret cocktail lounge in Uptown Minneapolis. My sister told me my pictures were cloudy, but I will still post them.

There was an alley, secret door, and what emerged was a beautiful cocktail bar and resteraunt complete with a stage musician ready.

There was a show at 9pm that night, but I really needed sleep.

The laundry was what Sunday became 3 huge bags, Lyft drivers, and all day of washing, drying and folding clothes.

By the time the week started, I was already tired, had a ton of cleaning to do, but I had plans to go to Como in St. Paul to ride the Swan boats on the lake. My friend and co-worker Minji, have been talking about it since last year, but we canceled to reschedule because the day was 106 degrees and we made a great choice.

In place of going, I spent time going to the Federal Appeals court to support the family of Cordale Handy, a young man who died at the hands of police.

The verdict was pushed until Monday, a full write up coming soon.

This weekend, as we walk out of July, my sister and I have night plans on Sunday, tomorrow, to go to W.A. Frost and Company to celebrate her bday. For today, I will be updating my post, watching streetstyle videos, art webinars, and decor videos. I am exhausted, and needed a down weekend to both save money and restore myself.

Thank you so much for joining me this July. Until next time!
